Patch 9.2.5: What to Expect on Raider.IO

Last week, Blizzard announced that the 9.2.5 content update will be launching with this coming reset: May 31 for NA realms, and June 1st for EU realms. There are quite a few changes coming with this patch, but one in particular is going to have a pretty substantial impact on the game as we know it: Cross-Faction instances!

This has been a long-awaited feature for many, so we are glad to see it finally arriving. Cross-faction instances are going to have some effect on things such as Leaderboards, Recruitment, and other aspects of the features and data we provide here at Raider.IO.

Read on for an overview of everything that will be changing – or not changing – with regards to all things Raider.IO when the servers come up later today and 9.2.5 officially launches!

*Note: Blizzard has confirmed that Season 4 will not be launching alongside 9.2.5, so we are still within Season 3.

Table of Contents

9.2.5 Mythic+ Season Partition

We will be adding a 9.2.5 Mythic+ Season Partition across the website. This will be available as a drop-down menu option on your Raider.IO player and guild profiles, as well as on Leaderboard pages. It will continue to default to show runs and data for all of Season 3, but if you wish to show only runs and data for Season 3 from 9.2.5 onwards, you can select that option.

Seasonal Mythic+ Title: Cryptic Hero

The in-game Title and Feat of Strength awarded to the top 0.1% of players based on Mythic+ Rating will be changing based on the introduction of Cross-faction instances. Previously, this Title was awarded to the top 0.1% of players by region and per faction but with Mythic+ becoming Cross-faction, Blizzard has changed this calculation to encompass users from both factions.

Our page showing the Seasonal Rating Cutoffs has been amended to reflect the combined faction requirement. We still also showcase the requirements broken down by faction – though only the combined actually matters for attaining the seasonal title.

It is important to note, again, that Blizzard has confirmed Season 3 is not ending with 9.2.5, so you still have until the arrival of Season 4 (coming this Summer) to become a Cryptic Hero!

Guilds and Raid Leaderboards

While Cross-faction instances are coming with 9.2.5, Blizzard will be keeping guilds as single-faction for now. So, what does this mean for how Guilds will show on Leaderboards on Raider.IO?

Guilds will continue to have an assigned faction, and guild raids and kills will continue to be registered as that faction - regardless of the specific faction makeup of the kill.

Our standard rules apply for attributing kills to a guild where a certain number of players in the raid must be members of the same guild for that guild to get credit for the kill:

- Mythic SFO: 11 players minimum
- Heroic/Normal SFO: 7 players minimum

Therefore, even if you pug 9 cross-realm/cross-faction players for a kill of Mythic Halondrus, for example, it will still show up as a kill for your guild as long as you had 11 members of your guild in the encounter.

To summarize: new raid encounter kills will be attributed to a guild’s raid progression as long as the guild has the required number of members in that kill. Cross-realm and cross-faction status will not impact this, as long as the number of guild members reaches the minimums shown above.

We’re also happy to highlight the fact that with the launch of 9.2.5, Mythic Sepulcher of the First Ones will be open for Cross-Realm gameplay as well! You can invite anybody now regardless of realm or faction!

Mythic+ Leaderboards and Teams

On Season 3 Overall and 9.2.5 Mythic+ Leaderboards, the Factions dropdown now has a new option – "Mixed Factions" – that will filter the list to only include groups with cross-faction members. The other options will continue to operate as before: "All Factions" shows every run, "Horde Only" shows runs comprised of only Horde players, and "Alliance Only" shows runs comprised of only Alliance players.

On Mythic+ run Leaderboards, groups that are of mixed factions will have an orange WoW icon as their faction symbol, and will also have a slight orange tint behind them on hover. Horde and Alliance only groups will continue to have their standard icons and faction colors as their highlight tint on hover.

Mythic+ Teams will now be able to support characters from both factions. The Team itself will still have a set faction, but members of the team will be able to add characters to the team roster from both factions.

Recruitment

The Recruitment Profile option to enable cross-realm grouping for characters & guilds will now also enable cross-faction grouping.

This will then allow these profiles to be matched with players or guilds that are not of the same realm or faction, as long as they have also elected for cross-realm/cross-faction grouping.
