The Weekly Route: Tyrannical, Raging, Necrotic, and Awakened

This week’s affixes are Tyrannical, Raging, Necrotic, and Awakened.

This is kiting week - both Raging and Necrotic force your tank to get out of the pack at the end of each pull, and extra help from the rest of your group in the form of Crowd Control will go a long way too. Your tank may also need some help on boss fights, as the combination of Necrotic and Tyrannical can be overwhelming, especially on high attack speed bosses or when playing tank specs that don’t dodge or parry often. Be warned that while Awakened minibosses do not enrage, their minions do, and all enemies apply Necrotic stacks.

The Weekly Routes

Atal'Dazar [back to top]

Vol’kaal is a tough boss to reset Necrotic stacks on - you may want to have DPS or healers ready to taunt and run away, and you should certainly have bloodlust for this boss.

Freehold [back to top]

This is perhaps the hardest week to fight Harlan with an Awakened enemy - still very much possible and easier than most other dungeons, but if you’re not feeling up to it you should remove some pulls from early in the dungeon (perhaps the first pull) and then do more ravager pulls and the final obelisk before Harlan.

Kings' Rest [back to top]

Tyrannical/Necrotic boss fights are the big problem here this week, as is Raging Shadow of Zul if your group lacks a soothe effect.

Shrine of the Storm [back to top]

Necrotic stacks from smaller enemies can be worrying here if you’re fighting them along with bigger threats, so try to seperate your pulls into enemies of the same size all at once. Raging Minibosses can also be a threat if you choose to pull them, which is often a good idea to secure count before backtracking to the obelisk.

Siege of Boralus [back to top]

Our Siege of Boralus route is based off the Horde pathing and will require some modification if you’re Alliance.

Raging can be used to empower an Ashvane Spotter if you want to use a strategy that revolves around one. The Weekly Route doesn’t use that strategy, but it’s a very common one among the highest level of keys due to very high efficiency at the cost of more difficulty.

Temple of Sethraliss [back to top]

Tyranical/Necrotic bosses are the main challenge in this dungeon, especially Galvazzt as it can already be healing intensive and tough on tanks, and it’s very difficult to kite it safely in order to drop stacks. Be 100% sure to have bloodlust for that encounter.

The MOTHERLODE!! [back to top]

There are a few enemies that can become lethal with Raging near the start of the dungeon, especially if they pick the same person with their abilities all at the same time. To counteract this, you may want to only bring one below 30% at a time, especially if you don’t have a soothe.

The Underrot [back to top]

This awakened pattern once again positions you to easily fight The Blob with the last boss - this can be tough if the tyrannical boss fights are a problem for you, but it’s a pretty natural combination of miniboss and boss since you move around the room in the same way to play against both.

Tol Dagor [back to top]

With Necrotic active, you’ll want to be 100% sure to kill all the enemies in cells before fighting Jes Howlis. This is another dungeon where your success will be determined by how well you can handle the tougher boss fights with both Tyrannical and Necrotic active, although there’s also some trash that’s no joke when Raging!

Waycrest Manor [back to top]

The easiest way to have a consistent time in this dungeon is to use the following strategy: whatever door is open, pretend it’s the Top Left door by using the first Obelisk to get all the way over to that room. It costs about an extra minute if you get a right-side door to do this, but it’s great especially on Tyrannical weeks to get that guaranteed first bloodlust onto a very tricky boss.

Mechagon Junkyard [back to top]

If you are playing on the EU servers, you will not be able to use this route this week and will instead have to go to a different side of the dungeon first, since the hard mode enemy will be in your way. Our Junkyard route is optimized for early Shock Bots - you’ll have four across your group after the second pull! Just be careful - depending on which region you’re in, the Hard Mode enemy flies above different bosses, so you may need to adapt to avoid fighting under it.

Mechagon Workshop [back to top]

There’s little choice in Workshop pathing except whether or not to fight an Awakened enemy with the last boss. The least useful Obelisk is that of The Blob, which is conveniently one of the easiest enemies to fight with bosses, but with Necrotic and Tyrannical active that can be no joke, especially against a high tank-damage end boss like King Mechagon.
