Introduction: What is the Hardcore Mak'Gora?

Hardcore games and gameplay are by no means a new phenomenon, especially in World of Warcraft. For many years, there has been a thriving Hardcore Community playing on WoW Classic Servers. However, with the launch of the Official Hardcore Servers, this mode has taken the world by storm…and Blizzard added something special when they implemented it: the Mak'Gora!

A Mak'Gora is the ability to duel another player to the death on the Hardcore realms, and the losing player is unable to resurrect. They are gone forever, only to be remembered.

The folks over at OTK are always creating innovative and exciting events, and this time they’ve outdone themselves. They are excited to announce the OTK/Starforge Hardcore Mak'Gora (SFMG), a month-long competition with a leveling and gearing phase that culminates in a mass Mak'Gora bracket. Only one will survive…will it be you?

Event Format

The SFMG will consist of three separate stages: the Leveling Stage, the Qualifiers Stage, and the Mak'Gora Finals.

LEVELING STAGE

In order to compete in the SFMG, players will need to create brand new characters in WoW Classic Era, on the SKULL ROCK Hardcore Realm (NA). Characters must be HORDE. Character creation will begin on October 6th; characters created prior to October 6th will be ineligible. After creating a brand new character on or after October 6th, players will need to register their characters in the competition via the SFMG Registration Form here on Raider.IO Classic, which will open on October 6th at 12pm CST.

Participants will have from October 6th to October 29th to level their characters to max level (60), and prepare for the dueling portion of the event to the best of their ability.

Please ensure you read the full Rules and Regulations to determine
what is and is not allowed for character preparation.

Note: Characters must have the letters “SFMG” at the end of their name, and all participants must join the guild <Starforge Mak'Gora> upon creation.

You will be able to keep track of yours and other participants’ progression throughout the Leveling Stage on the OTK/Starforge Hardcore Mak'Gora Leaderboards, here on Raider.IO Classic!

QUALIFIERS STAGE

On October 30th, all participants who have reached level 60 are eligible to move onto the Qualifiers. This stage will consist of normal duels to reduce the playing field before moving onto the Mak'Gora Finals. The Qualifiers will continue until a top 64 players have been determined. Read the full Ruleset and Format of the Qualifiers for more information.

MAK’GORA FINALS

On October 31st, the showdown takes place! The players that were strong enough to make it through the Qualifiers Stage will be placed into a bracket. In order to advance, players must challenge their opponents to a Mak'Gora (duel to the death), and the winner moves on! At the end of the day, only one will remain to be crowned the King/Queen of Death, and earn themselves the lion’s share of the prize pool!

The Qualifiers and the Mak'Gora Finals will be broadcast LIVE on the Twitch Channels of Esfand, Sodapoppin and Xaryu, starting at 10am PST / 12pm CST / 7pm CEST, on October 30th and 31st. You won’t want to miss this, so be sure to tune in!

Note: Streamers are welcome to co-stream the Qualifiers and the Mak'Gora Finals provided they abide by the Blizzard and Twitch ToS, as well as the SFMG Rules, Regulations, and Code of Conduct.
