The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am is BACK on April 15th!

Yes, that’s right - the event you’ve been waiting for is back once again! We are thrilled to officially announce that we are teaming up once again with Team Liquid to bring you the 3rd annual Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am, presented by Thorne!

This year’s Pro-Am follows the wildly successful 2022 Edition where 6 teams made up of Pro Players, Influencers, and Amateurs came together to push Mythic+ keystones to raise money for charity! With the help of the amazing WoW community, we were able to raise over $45,000 for some incredible causes. That’s a combined total of OVER $68,000 raised since the introduction of the Pro-Am in 2021. The Pro-Am is always full of fun, shenanigans, and great Mythic+ gameplay, and this year’s event has the biggest prize pool yet at $40,000 - 100% of which goes to Charity!

Not only is the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am coming back, but registration for the coveted Amateur player spots is officially OPEN – so read on below to find out how to register for your chance to be a part of this amazing event!

Event Details

Date: Saturday, April 15th, 2023
Time: 9am PDT / 6pm CEST

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am, presented by Thorne, will be a one-day competition, broadcast live from the Team Liquid Twitch Channel. It will be a showcase of 6 teams battling it out in a “Great Push” style format, which means that all 6 teams will play at the same time for a period of 5 hours, pushing keystones as high as possible. Teams will earn points based on the keystone levels they are able to complete in time for each dungeon in the pool, and the team with the most points at the end of the 5 hour time period is the winner!

Each team will be competing under the banner of a non-profit organization working towards initiatives that promote Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, Accessibility, and Justice in gaming and the world beyond. The entirety of the $40,000 USD prize pool will be going to the represented charities, but the percentage of which will be determined by each team’s final placement in the competition!

Pro-Am Format

The 2021 Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am was the first time the Pro-Am format had been used in World of Warcraft esports. It is a format that is used often in traditional sports, especially for charity events, and we were excited to bring it to WoW! It started as an experiment but we are happy to say it was a rousing success, and we’re proud to bring it back for the third year in a row.

Pro-Am refers to “Professional/Amateur”, and means that the participating teams are made up of a combination of Professional players and Amateurs. The Pros consist of past and present MDI competitors that have made it to official broadcast. Each team roster has 2 Pro players on it, and they’ll be bringing some incredible MDI experience to the event. To add to the fun, each team’s 3rd player is a World of Warcraft community Influencer. We’ve got some big names and great competitors lined up!

But what about the Amateurs? That’s right! Each team roster has 3 people already on it, so we need to add 2 Amateurs to each…and we’re doing that via open registration. That’s right, YOU have the opportunity to join one of these incredible teams and compete in the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am! Details on how to register and the eligibility requirements can be found below, but don’t delay, as registration closes at 11:59pm PST on Tuesday, March 28th!

This is your chance to play in a Mythic+ dungeon competition on the same team as some of the most prominent players on Azeroth!

Amateur Registration - OPEN NOW!

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am will see 6 teams of 5 players each battling it out for dungeon-pushing supremacy. We’ve got 3 players on each roster already figured out, but that means we need to find an additional 12 players to round out the teams. These 12 players will be randomly selected via lottery, and you can register for a chance to be chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity today!

We are following the same Amateur Registration process as last year’s event. The goal for the eligibility requirements is to maintain the integrity and fairness of the competition. We want to ensure that the players randomly selected for the Amateur spots are, in fact, Amateurs. However, last year we implemented rules that allowed more players a chance to register, and we are continuing that format.

Based on player data, we have determined the Amateur Window - that is, the score range where we hope to find the players with the skill and experience best suited for the Amateur role - to be Raider.IO Scores between 1000 to 2000. However, even if you are outside of the Amateur Window, you can still register as long as your characters fall within the Registration Window from 500 to 3249. If you have at least one character on your account that has achieved 500 Raider.IO Score, and no characters that have achieved 3250 or higher Raider.IO Score, you are eligible to register for the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am!

When you register to be an Amateur player for the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am, you will be given a certain number of entries into the lottery. If your Raider.IO Score falls into the “Amateur Window” as described above, you will be given the maximum number of possible entries. If your Raider.IO Score falls outside of the Amateur Window, either below or above, but still within the Registration Window, you will receive a smaller number of total entries. We want to make it possible for a larger range of players to be able to register, but are hoping with this weighted entry system, the majority of the players selected for the 12 open positions will fall into the Amateur Window, maintaining the best level playing field that we can!

The Charities

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am is first and foremost an event aimed to raise money for some incredible causes focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, Accessibility, and Justice initiatives in gaming and beyond. We hope this event raises awareness for these organizations and the work they do, on top of raising funds for them to put towards their valuable work!

The prize pool, graciously donated by our amazing sponsors, will be distributed in its entirety to the represented charities. Viewers will also have the opportunity to donate to the charities directly, and we will have some fun planned for certain donation milestones during the broadcast of the competition. Last year we were able to raise over $45k through the prize pool and individual donations, and this year's goal is to raise at least $50k... let's come together as a community and make this happen!

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am is proud to support the following non-profit organizations: AbleGamers, The Trevor Project, Girls Who Code, and Equal Justice Initiative, Women in Games International, and Doctors Without Borders. Full details on these charities and donation links will be available closer to the event date.
