The Weekly Route: Fortified, Bursting, Volcanic, and Beguiling

This week’s affixes are Fortified, Bursting, Volcanic, and Enchanted-heavy Beguiling.

This is the best week on the calendar to do high Mythic plus! Bursting is the only tough affix this week (especially in lower keys, where it can be way more challenging, relative to the rest of the dungeon, than in higher keys!), and the Enchanted-heavy Beguiling pattern that’s active is the easiest one. This week in particular, be sure to stock up on Abyssal Healing Potions - they’re absolutely massive for surviving moderate to severe Bursting stacks.

If you’re interested in a set of routes aimed at very high level players, check out Lashga’s. He’s designs a set of very thorough routes for this week for his own push group, so they’re specially tailored for Alliance players as they feature skips that work well with Shadowmeld. These are quite complicated strategies, though they also have explanations for most of the tricky stuff. If you’re confused by anything in there, stop by his stream and ask him about it! Note that his routes usually go up on Wednesday, around when the European servers reset.

The Weekly Routes

Atal'Dazar [back to top]

It’s a great week for Atal’Dazar, as this is the only Beguiling pattern where there isn’t a Tides Emissary preventing you from pulling 6 trolls from the left side of the dungeon at the start. There is an awkward Tides emissary in with some Sksycreamers - you can keep this CC’d outside of the group or you can make use of a neat trick as seen in this Clip where the Tides aura doesn’t apply to units significantly above or below.

Freehold [back to top]

Captain Eudora is friendly this week, so Freehold is even more fantastic than the affixes suggest this week. Be very careful to not afflict any Enchanted Emissaries with Painful Motivation - this will reflect huge amounts of damage back at your whole group that will almost certainly wipe you.

Kings' Rest [back to top]

Minions of Zul do burst so be very careful with the first few pulls of the dungeon. After that, you’ll only really have to worry about Bursting from the Embalming Fluids, and the standard set of tough Fortified Kings’ Rest abilities from the last few trash pulls of the dungeon.

Shrine of the Storm [back to top]

There’s a lot of room for intricate strategies and finesse in Shrine this week, but it’s also the most forgiving week to just pull the dungeon in a straightforward way. There are no truly awful Void placements as are present on other weeks, and some of the more difficult Tides emissaries can again be defeated by the power of the Z-Axis.

Siege of Boralus [back to top]

Our Siege of Boralus routes are based off the Horde pathing and will require some modification if you’re Alliance.

Be careful to not murder yourself with Bursting when using Ashvane Spotters to kill enemies - you’ll also need to be careful when dealing with the first two Void-touched Emissaries of the dungeon - the second is often difficult to pull without also getting a tough pack that’s patrolling nearby - one option here is to pull the trash back out of line-of-sight of the Emissary and avoid dealing with it until the pack is dead.

Temple of Sethraliss [back to top]

You still want lust for bosses in Temple - this is true for virtually every combination of affixes. This is a great week for Temple, as there are no tough Bursting spots, and the Enchanted emissary pattern doesn’t have any super prohibitive emissary spawns like the other weeks do.

The MOTHERLODE!! [back to top]

This is one of the few dungeons for which this week might not be the best on the calendar - though it’s still fantastic. Beware that Mechanized Peacekeepers will stack Bursting twice when they die - once for the robot, and once for the pilot. It’s pretty important in higher keys to make sure that Bursting stacks don’t overlap with the random huge damage spikes that come out in the form of Thug charges or Jockey gun shots.

The Underrot [back to top]

This is a dungeon where there are a few tricky Tides pulls even on this Enchanted week. There is, however, a secret strategy to avoid pulling many of these. Most emissaries will only aggro when you pull stuff that’s close to them, so you can often avoid getting the emissary by taunting the farthest enemy from the emissary - like in this Clip. This works for even more pulls if you have access to a Ring of Peace!

Tol Dagor [back to top]

Don’t try to go too big in the cannon area this week - Volcanoes will spawn under your cannoneer, and you can also easily murder the group with Bursting stacks if you try to get more than a pack or two at a time. Volcanic is also a tough affix when fighting Overseer Korgus due to the limitations the fight puts on positioning and movement, so be absolutely sure to have bloodlust ready for that encounter.

Waycrest Manor [back to top]

Don’t be afraid to lust trash - especially if one of the right side doors is open at the start, as this pushes you towards the Hunting Lodge which can be a very lethal room. Bursting shouldn’t pose too much of a threat in this dungeon unless you go overboard with Jagged Hounds in the courtyard. Volcanic can also throw a wrench in some strategies that are commonly used at the very end of the dungeon - if you’re planning to stand in a specific spot to cause Gloom Horrors to be unable to find a path to jump to you, be sure to have a plan for what to do when three volcanoes spawn under your feet!
