The Weekly Route: Fortified, Bursting, Volcanic, and Prideful
This week’s affixes are Fortified, Bursting, Volcanic, and Prideful.
It’s the best week on the calendar for pushing the very highest level keys - though the very best teams are busy competing this weekend in the great push! Though this week will be one of the best for most groups, Bursting is an affix that deserves respect and can be a serious challenge for some groups, such as those with an undergeared healer or those with overzealous DPS. Don’t forget that it became a Magic effect this expansion, so it’s possible to dispel (and Mass Dispel!)

De Other Side is a dungeon that’s difficult relative to most other dungeons, but this week is very good news for you if you’re looking to improve your score, as the affixes are extremely favorable and notably don’t empower the bosses to any real degree. One important tip during the Mueh’zala intermission is that Volcanoes spawn only if you’re out of melee range of the stuff you’re nearby and in combat with, so even (especially) if you’re a caster you’ll want to be in melee range of the image so that you can plant and cast without being interrupted.

If you’re slow to kill the adds during Echelon, it is possible to get murdered by a bunch of Volcanoes spawning under you during the stun, so make it a priority to get them dead a little faster than you would normally.

There are really no notable effects of the affixes in this dungeon this week, it’s a great choice if you have the option for either an easy weekly key or a score upgrade.

This dungeon contains the biggest single Bursting moment of this expansion, where Gushing Slimes in the first boss room inexplicably trigger the affix. Pull that area as slowly as you need to, though you can certainly pull them all if you have some immunities, a mass dispel, or the ability to stagger their deaths.

This dungeon received a handful of nerfs this week, making some trash and the final gauntlet moderately less likely to overwhelm you. It remains a relatively difficult dungeon so continue to respect it!

Though Spires is not without its challenges, this is certainly the best week to be attacking the dungeon, as like De Other Side it can actually be quite tricky on some of the other “good” weeks when affixes like Grievous enter the discussion.

One tip for this week is to pick up one of the Shields if you’re a DPS or tank player and your group struggles at all with Bursting, as you can use it after a pack dies and you wouldn’t be doing anything useful in order to provide yourself and nearby allies with a damage reduction effect.

Theater has become one of the most difficult dungeons to complete in time for push groups due not to any specific difficulties so much as the unforgiving nature of the timer, so don’t be surprised if this dungeon feels like you have less wiggle room than the others.
