The Weekly Route: Tyrannical, Bursting, Explosive, and Prideful

This week’s affixes are Tyrannical, Bursting, Explosive, and Prideful.

This is one of the best Tyrannical weeks on the calendar, and it’s a good time to start getting used to pushing Tyrannical keys, as Blizzard is going to reward Tyrannical keys with their in-game Score system in Patch 9.1.

Be careful of Bursting this week, as mobs can die quite quickly without Fortified increasing their health and may cause unplanned stack refreshes if you’re not careful!

The Weekly Routes

De Other Side [back to top]

Dealer Xy’exa is one of the most underrated bosses in terms of difficulty - with Tyrannical active, it’s vital to manage Arcane Lightning by bouncing it only to people who don’t have debuff stacks already (except maybe the tank), and by using defensives whenever it will overlap with any other damage on you.

Halls of Atonement [back to top]

Explosive is an affix that is generally easy to manage because almost anyone can sink a single global into them to kill one, but they can still get you in trouble if they are spawning where you’re not looking, such as when your tank is madly kiting bears. Whenever a pull gets spread out, make sure someone is watching for stray explosives!

Mists of Tirna Scithe [back to top]

Dealing with the first boss efficiently is vitally important - generally you can and should save all your cooldowns for the first burn phase, but if the keystone level is high enough that you don’t kill the boss during that phase (which will be true for most groups at most 15+ key levels on Tyrannical weeks), you should then start using cooldowns as they become available to escape the non-burn phases or else you’ll not be able to survive until the next burn.

Plaguefall [back to top]

Lining up big damage cooldowns onto bosses with Prideful buffs is vitally important to timing this dungeon - as is managing cooldowns during the last boss. Generally you’ll want to use 2 minute cooldowns on pull, as you’ll get them back during the last phase, and depending on your group’s setup you may want to use Bloodlust with little else during the second phase.

Sanguine Depths [back to top]

Cooldowns, Prideful buffs, and in the case of the second boss, Venthyr lantern buffs, are very important this week - if you can manage the bosses, the trash is the easiest it will ever be with these affixes.

Spires of Ascension [back to top]

Dark Stride on the second boss can be cleared with Kyrian potions, Dwarf racials, or immunities, but take care not to use these frivolously especially during a Prideful buff if you have one going into the fight, as your healer often needs no extra help and you’ll save them no mana by using one then.

The Necrotic Wake [back to top]

Using weapons in this dungeon is always helpful - a solid strategy is to save Hammers to break through shields on the last boss - ideally with the 100% crit buff you get from returning from exile.

Theater of Pain [back to top]

Xav the Unfallen can be made a lot faster, depending on your group composition, if you do not need to kill the banners. This can be done if everyone has enough mobility to get out of his AoE effects even with the full slow on them - figure out if this is possible for your group!
