The Weekly Route: Tyrannical, Raging, Explosive, and Prideful

This week’s affixes are Tyrannical, Raging, Explosive, and Prideful.

This week is the actual last week to get Season 1 Keystone Master (sorry for the bait last week!). The new affix and higher item level rewards will all begin next week (likely with capped item level rewards for the first week), but for now the dungeons are slightly different, as all of the dungeon tuning in the Patch Notes are in play, except for the scaling up of the dungeons.

This week, you may want to try and do the highest key you can in order to set yourself up to receive a high key next week. Historically, when the new scaling is implemented, the keys you get that week are 4 or 5 levels lower than the level of the highest key you did the week before, so if you want to get a +15 Tormented key next week out of your vault, you probably want to aim for a +20 this week. On the other hand, the rewards both in terms of fun and items will be better next week than this, so if time next week isn’t more valuable to you than time this week, you could just choose to push your key up then instead of now.

The Weekly Routes

De Other Side [back to top]

The appropriately named Enraged Spirits must not be allowed to cast Rage while they are Raging. You also need to make sure to line the Drills - you should always do this but take extra care to avoid any ticks of damage while the mob is below 30%. Take extra care with the Risen Warlords as well - they have another enrage effect that will prevent them from dying and they can easily one shot your tank while both enrages are active.

Halls of Atonement [back to top]

Tyrannical Halls features boss fights with brief critical moments which, if handled well, can make the rest of the encounters pretty simple. Our route with skips now features Pride onto both the first and the second boss - you can choose either of these to bloodlust and should still have it for the last boss. Raging bears must not be allowed to melee your tank unless they are an invincible juggernaut, so either kite or CC them as they get low (or really after your tanks cooldowns are exhausted on pull).

Mists of Tirna Scithe [back to top]

With only three bosses, Mists of Tirna Scithe is always a good candidate for best Tyrannical dungeon, though it’s really just one of the best dungeons on any week. Take care though, with Raging active there are a few mobs that might surprise you such as the minibosses in the maze, which can take players from 100 to 0 very quickly while Raging.

Plaguefall [back to top]

Plaguefall’s timer is very lenient but the boss encounters and trash packs are technically difficult and require both throughput and finesse. You need to be careful with the first boss to not let it eat any slimes, or it’ll almost certainly live long enough to cast a brutal double stomp combo. The second boss can cause Explosive problems if you CC any slimes and then leave them alone, so make sure someone is watching out for that.

Sanguine Depths [back to top]

Even after a series of nerfs, Tyrannical Kryxis and Tarvold remain among the toughest throughput checks in the Shadowlands, so ensure you have all your cooldowns and Prideful for these encounters if the keystone level is at all challenging for your group. Raging Overseers can be brutal if they get their chains cast off, though this can be lined or quickly broken by using a movement ability to get away. Nuking them down before they cast is the ideal solution if you have the damage.

Spires of Ascension [back to top]

Kyrian players should grab the spears found throughout the dungeon and use one or both on the brutal final trash mobs as they enter their Raging windows - if these pulls go awry you can easily find yourself in a position where the mobs feel impossible to pull again after the wipe without the spear, so be very careful with them. Be ready for several difficult trash pulls that can become catastrophic if enemies are allowed to stay alive while Raging for long periods of time.

The Necrotic Wake [back to top]

Consider whether you’d like to intentionally enrage Flesh Crafters to double the damage they’re pumping out with their cleavers - this can represent a time save but also makes them way more dangerous!

Theater of Pain [back to top]

Raging minibosses in Xav’s wing can be extremely scary - if you’re interested in some tips to try and force the less dangerous minibosses to become active, check out the notes in the Route with skips!
