About Wreck List

Wreck List is the unofficial guild of the American liberal political website DailyKos.com.

Our current raid team aims to complete Heroic for AOTC each tier and has consistently done so for the last few tiers. We aim for a relatively low-pressure atmosphere with minimal demands in terms of player preparation or commitment. We do not make any efforts at Mythic raid simply due to the logistical hurdles of fielding a consistent roster. Since we are a Heroic-only guild, we do not require that your raid character be actually on our realm server.

We raid two hours per day for two days per week. Historically we have raided on two days out of Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, shifting depending on availability of individual raiders (currently Tuesday/Thursday). Our raid times are 8:30PM-10:30PM server time (US Central Standard Time).

Core Tenets of the Raid Group:

  • Progression is secondary - we are decidedly not a “progression” raid group, and ensuring that our raiders enjoy the game and each other is our highest priority
  • Anyone can raid™ - we believe that any of our guild members can participate and have fun raiding with us, regardless of raiding experience
  • Use our time well - we appreciate that you are taking time out of your lives to play with us, and want to get the most out of that time as we can

Expectations for Raiders

  • Adherence to guild rules of conduct (short version: treat people with respect)
  • Regardless of your level of skill or experience, give an honest effort and try your best to improve
  • Communicate any irregularities in attendance as early as possible

More Concrete Requirements

  • We are very flexible with respect to attendance. Attending raid only one day a week or even just dropping in occasionally is fine, with the exception of tanks and the core healers who need to have near 100% attendance. If you are an infrequent raider, we recommend attending on farm nights (the first raid night after Tuesday reset) if possible, as the easier content will make inexperience less of an issue, and you will likely see more rewards.
  • Discord is required for communications. You do not need to have a microphone, but you do need to be able to hear others.
  • You should have at least one max level raid-ready character. Our definition of raid-readiness is very minimal and lax, and fellow raiders should be able to help you to get to the minimum required level of preparation without too much trouble.
  • We have historically never come close to the thirty player limit on raid size, so anyone who wants to raid should be able to, provided that they meet the requirements above. There is no “official” membership to the raid team, and no “bench” to speak of. Raiders are totally free to raid outside of the group, in PUGs and/or other organized raid groups outside of the guild.

We generally try to clear Heroic difficulty (Ahead of the Curve) in a timely manner. Upon a new raid launch, we will start by clearing Normal at least once, but will try to transition into Heroic fairly quickly. Following Heroic completion, we will usually try to run through raid achievements once before taking a break prior to the next tier release. We almost never farm Heroic after killing the final boss. In Shadowlands, we cleared Heroic in a little over three months in each tier.

Even though we are a fairly casual raid team, since we only raid four hours per week, we prioritize using raid time as efficiently as we can. We try to minimize downtime between pulls, and try to keep our voice chat clear and concise during progression fights to make sure important information is communicated clearly. You can watch this recording of our early Sanctum of Domination progression to see if our raid atmosphere and pace is right for you: https://youtu.be/XG3nab1xVug

We do not require anything specific in terms of class, spec, professions, or other character progression, but we do expect players to put in enough effort to be overall positive contributors to the raid. You can look at our warcraftlogs rankings to see the rough range of our members' performance: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/guild/rankings/881/latest#difficulty=4&partition=1

Official guild activities are minimal outside of raid days. Members will often push Mythic+ in PUGs or amongst friends. If you're looking to mainly raid-log then you'll probably fit right in!

While we are a politically-affiliated guild, generally the guild’s politics do not manifest much into day-to-day activities, and we do not necessarily expect everyone’s beliefs to align completely. We do, however, expect members to generally respect the progressive foundation of the guild. Based on the guild’s political leaning, you can probably get an idea for the kinds of things we will or will not tolerate from members.
