Fortified, Afflicted, Raging

The Weekly Route Series showcases Mythic+ strategies that are tailored towards Beginner and Intermediate levels of Mythic+ with the following criteria in mind:

  • Easy to execute - particularly in pick-up-groups (PUGs)
  • Good tradeoffs between skipping the most difficult enemy forces while not requiring overly complicated strategies or “tech” to do so

This week, the affixes are Fortified, Afflicted, and Raging.

Trash is going to be rough this week, thanks to Fortified AND Raging! Don't be surprised if your keys feel slower on time than normal, and don't be discouraged if your group blazes through bosses but struggles through larger trash pulls.

If your group has limited de-enrages (Druid, Evoker + Oppressing Roar, Hunter, and Rogue), we’ve provided a list for each dungeon detailing the mobs you’ll want to prioritize when removing Raging.

During Afflicted weeks, up to two Afflicted Souls will appear every 30 seconds. Unlike last week’s Incorporeal affix, where we had to rotate single-target crowd controls, stuns, and interrupts on the Incorporeal Beings, Afflicted Souls will cast an uninterruptible Afflicted Cry that must be stopped by dispelling the Souls or healing them to full health before the cast is completed.

For handling Afflicted, classes that can dispel are your friend:

Fortified, Afflicted, Raging

ALGETH’AR ACADEMY

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that your healer will need to save their dispel for Vexamus’s Oversurge debuff from soaking Arcane Orbs, and Echo of Doragosa’s Energy Bomb, leaving DPS responsible for handling Afflicted during those fights.

Pay special attention to the Unruly Textbook’s Monotonous Lecture, as this can stun your healer and quickly cause a wipe!

The Arcane Forager and Arcane Ravager mobs on the way to Vexamus can be both unruly and a little scary, especially this week with Raging. Learn how to handle these slippery eels with this quick and easy Raider.IO Snapshot:

THE AZURE VAULT

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that your healer will need to save their dispel for Conjured Lasher’s Mystic Vapors and Umbrelskul’s Dragon Strike, leaving DPS responsible for Afflicted at these points in the dungeon.

BRACKENHIDE HOLLOW

Bloodlust Timings: First pull, on cooldown, Gutshot, and Decatriarch Wratheye

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that on Hackclaw's War-Band, your healer will need to save their dispel for Decayed Senses, leaving DPS responsible for handling Afflicted for the duration of this fight.

There are several Decaying Cauldrons located in the dungeon that will help you remove disease debuffs with an extra action button, but activating the Cleansed Rot requires that a player in your group has at least 25 points in Alchemy. Decaying Cauldrons are helpful for your personal Withering debuff if your team happens to miss a Witherbolt cast. Use your extra action button to cleanse and save dispels for Afflicted when possible.

HALLS OF INFUSION

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that your healer will need to save their dispel for Flamecaller Aymi’s Molten Subduction, Glacial Proto-Dragon’s Deep Chill, and Aqua Rager’s Boiling Rage, leaving DPS responsible for Afflicted at these points in the dungeon. Remember that you can line-of-sight any Afflicted Cry, so the tight corners in this dungeon can be used to your advantage if you are struggling to dispel Afflicted during particularly difficult pulls!

If you find yourself struggling with dodging the waves through the gauntlet up to Infuser Sariya, try this handy line of sight trick:

NELTHARUS

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that on Overseer Lahar, your healer will need to save their dispel for Imbued Magma, leaving DPS responsible for handling Afflicted for the duration of that fight.

On the way to Chargath, you’ll find several interactable Burning Chains. You can learn how to utilize these chains to speed up your run in our RIO Snapshot below:

On Forgemaster Gorek, positioning for the Blazing Aegis is key, as shown in our RIO Snapshot video:

THE NOKHUD OFFENSIVE

Bloodlust Timings: First pull, The Raging Tempest trash in front of the waterfall, on cooldown, and Balakar Khan during intermission

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that on Balakar Khan, your healer will need to save their dispel for Conductive Strike, leaving DPS responsible for handling Afflicted.

If you run with a more coordinated groups who prefers to go straight to Balakar Khan and skip the mini bosses, Balara and Batak, invest some time into learning the handy skip detailed in our RIO Snapshot video:

RUBY LIFE POOLS

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that your healer will need to save their dispel for Melidrussa Chillworn’s Primal Chill and Erkhart Stormvein’s Stormslam, leaving DPS responsible for Afflicted during these boss fights.

Some groups utilize an invisibility potion as a pre-potion before they start the key in order to skip the first Primal Juggernaut. The idea is to do a larger and riskier first pull with Bloodlust. Similarly to Dragonflight Season 1, this strategy may become more popular as the season progresses. The downside of skipping this first Primal Juggernaut is that if anyone dies, players must use another invisibility potion to rejoin the group.

Here is an excellent Kyrakka weakaura to help you visualize the way the Flaming Embers move during the fight. If you are looking at the boss with the room’s entrance behind you, the arrows will tell you which way the puddles will move with the next cast of Winds of Change. Try it out and let me know what you think!

ULDAMAN

Bloodlust Timings: First pull, on cooldown, and Chrono-Lord Deios

To find Uldaman, take the portal to The Badlands in Valdrakken, shown on the map below:

Prioritize these mobs when removing Raging:

Remember that on Chrono-Lord Deios, your healer will need to save their dispel for Time Sink, leaving DPS responsible for handling Afflicted during this fight.

Remember that you can line-of-sight Afflicted Cry, so the tight corners in this dungeon can be used to your advantage if you are struggling to dispel Afflicted during particularly difficult pulls!

After Emberon, you can utilize a wall hug skip to avoid a painful Ebonstone Golem. No special tricks or abilities are required – all you need to do is walk your character into the wall and slowly inch your way towards the other side of the room. This skip is marked with a gold exclamation point (!) on our route. Check out this clip to see the skip in action:

Given this week’s brutal trash affixes, you may not want to pull the double Infinite Timereaver pack in the room right before the final boss. There are a few ways to skip this pack without needing to use an invisibility potion, which we discuss in a quick R.IO Snapshot:
