MDI The War Within Season 1: Highlights

What an MDI this has been. So many 2-1s and an almost perfect 3-2 grand final as well, with a heartbreaking wipe and ending in the last dungeon of the series. We saw three teams that all looked more than deserving of the championship crown, but Mandatory stuck it out in the end and ended up being more consistent across every single dungeon, all weekend long. Congratulations once again to Mandatory!


Perplexed had a rough road to the grand finals, with a disconnect that lost them one of the earlier matches against Mandatory, and two very tough 2-1 victories against Holy Moly. After so many years of disappointing third place finishes or even lower placements, they finally made it to the Grand Finals again, only to fall a tiny step short of taking it all. We can only hope that this doesn't break the spirit of this outstanding team, and that we will be graced with another one of their incredible performances early next year in the Season 1 The Great Push, and even next year's MDI!
Holy Moly had an incredible breakout tournament as well. This team with some MDI veterans and some newcomers, who found themselves under the Holy Moly banner for the first time, played fantastically, pushing Mandatory to a 3-2 grand final and forcing Perplexed to two 2-1 series as well. Typically the difference between the third placed team and the winner was fairly big, but this time around, it looked like all three medal winners were more than capable of claiming the entire championship.

Polish Mountain came in fourth today, after a great Lower Bracket run in Group A and a strong performance this tournament as well. Once this team of complete MDI newcomers ends up finding the consistency in performance that they need, they will be a force to be reckoned with as well.

This has been an insane final day of the MDI, and we hope that this marks the beginning of more and more intense and exhilarating MDIs in War Within and the Worldsoul Saga as a whole. We're glad you stuck it out with us for the entirety of the coverage, or even just small parts of it, and we'll see you again very soon with the Season 1 TGP starting in less than two months!
